The Bystander Intervention
What is it all about?
The Bystander Intervention Initiative, developed by UWE Bristol, empowers communities to intervene proactively to stop violence and abuse. It is particularly aimed at universities and higher education institutions. The programme is based on social norms theory and is intended to help students identify problematic situations, assume responsibility and intervene safely.
Learning Objectives:
- Understand the concept of Bystander Intervention
- Be better able to recognise violence and abuse
- Develop skills and confidence to intervene safely when witnessing inappropriate behaviour..
- Understand more about what support is available for survivors of abuse and violence
