Wellbeing for Women Day a big success

Cornerstone Cardiff

On the 23rd March, Welsh Women’s Aid hosted a free Wellbeing for Women day at Cornerstone in Cardiff. The idea behind the event was to give survivors of violence against women, their friends and family an opportunity to try out a range of self-care activities and connect with wellbeing organisations in the Cardiff area.

There were workshops in a range of activities such as yoga, breathing techniques and stress management as well as stalls offering Indian head massage, art therapy and other activities.

Organisations from across Cardiff attended to promote their activities such as volunteering, managing anxiety courses and support for survivors of abuse. Attendees also received a goody bag with toiletries generously donated by The Body Shop, Pulsin bars and Millie Marotta colouring in books.

About 60 people attended with attendees ranging from members of the public, current service users, ask me ambassadors and friends and family. Attendees gave great feedback saying that it was nice “not to be stuck in the refuge” and that it was helpful to be able to try new things and to find out what help and support was available.

Stands at the event

The event was organised by the Change That Lasts team in Welsh Women’s Aid as a way of interacting with the community and raising awareness of our ask me scheme. We are currently recruiting for ask me ambassadors in Cardiff who can support survivors by starting conversations around abuse, sharing their knowledge and being able to give a helpful response to disclosures. If you or someone you know would be interested, please visit our ask me page.
