Preventing ACE’s: Opportunities for collaboration between specialist violence against women services and the public sector

Collaboration across sectors is essential to ensuring adverse childhood experiences (ACEs) associated with violence against women, domestic abuse and sexual violence are identified early, addressed effectively and ultimately prevented.

At a time when the conversation around ACEs is high on everyone’s agenda, this half day seminar, hosted by Welsh Women’s Aid, will explore how we can foster collaboration between specialist violence against women services and the public sector to identify opportunities for early intervention and prevention. Importantly, it will provide attendees with the opportunity to learn about the impact of violence and abuse on children and how we can work together to deliver trauma informed responses.

Speakers will include Carl Sargeant, Cabinet Secretary for Communities and Children, Nicky Stanley, Professor of Social Work and Co-Director of Connect Centre for International Research on Interpersonal Violence and Harm at the University of Central Lancashire, and and Eleri Butler, CEO of Welsh Women’s Aid.

This seminar will be of particular benefit to:

• Public Service Board’s strategic leads
• Commissioners
• Public health and education professionals
• Specialist violence against women services
