  • WWA statement on Chief Constable Carmel Napier’s retirement

    WWA were surprised to hear the announcement of Chief Constable Carmel Napier’s unexpected retirement from Gwent Police announced in the papers yesterday (5th June).

    Over the past 2 years in particular WWA has worked closely with Ms Napier in relation to improving Police responses to domestic abuse and other forms of male violence against women, primarily in Gwent and more widely across the UK as the  former ACPO lead on Domestic Abuse, Honour based violence and stalking.

  • Welsh Women’s Aid has launched a NEW ‘CutsWatch’ online survey

    The purpose of this survey will be to monitor the extent, nature and impact of public spending cuts on violence against women support services in Wales. 

  • Welsh Women's Aid supports campaign to Ban Rape Porn

    WWA has signed up to support the Rape Crisis campaign to Ban Rape Porn in light of the use of sexually violent pornography in a number of rape cases, including the conviction of Mark Bridger for the murder of April Jones. The Children’s Commissioner of England has also published a report showing that there is a clear link between boys watching porn, and harmful attitudes and behaviours towards women and girls.

  • Take Action to Save Legal Aid

    Further devastating cuts proposed; new consultation open

    On the 9th April the Ministry of Justice published Transforming legal aid: delivering a more credible and efficient system. 
    The consultation closes on 4th June 2013 and proposes (amongst other things)    a radical restructuring of legal aid in criminal cases, including removing the right to choose a solicitor, a residence test for all civil legal aid claimants, ‘reforms’ to reduce the use of legal aid to fund certain judicial reviews,  ‘reforms’ to the merits test, and further changes to remuneration (payment) for providers and experts.

  • Police cautions overused to hit targets, says Dyfed-Powys PCC

    A police and crime commissioner has pledged to end his officers' culture of issuing cautions for serious offences.

    Dyfed-Powys Police were more likely to give cautions than any other force in Wales or England, with 45% of serious offenders being warned not prosecuted.

Mae cam-drin rhywiol ymysg oedolion yn cynnwys gwahanol fathau o ymddygiad rhywiol amhriodol sy’n achosi gofid neu niwed i unigolyn.  Gall cam-drin rhywiol fod yn wirioneddol neu’n fygythiad ac mae’n achosi niwed corfforol ac emosiynol.

Gall cam-drin rhywiol ddigwydd o fewn priodas. Yn aml, ni chaiff yr heddlu wybod am drais priodasol ac nid yw’n cael ei gydnabod o fewn priodas hyd yn oed gan y rheiny sy’n dioddef y cam-drin. Yn ddiwylliannol, tybia llawer o fenywod ei bod yn ‘ddyletswydd’ arnynt i fodloni dyheadau a gofynion rhywiol eu gŵr neu bartner hyd yn oed os nad ydynt am wneud hynny. Ond, mae trais rhywiol yn drosedd, hyd yn oed os ydych chi’n adnabod yr unigolyn.

Gallai cam-drin rhywiol o fewn priodas hefyd beri i’r unigolyn sy’n dioddef y cam-drin deimlo mai nhw sydd ar fai amdano, neu efallai bydd yr ymosodwr yn ymddwyn fel petai’r cam-drin wedi digwydd gyda chaniatâd y dioddefwr, gan arwain at ddryswch ac euogrwydd.

Mae cam-drin rhywiol yn cynnwys:

·        Trais rhywiol

·        Gorfodi rhywun i gyflawni gweithredoedd rhywiol yn erbyn ei ewyllys (er enghraifft, pan fyddant yn dweud na, yn sâl neu’n flinedig)

·        Defnyddio gwrthrychau’n dreisgar yn ystod rhyw

·        Gorfodi rhywun i gael rhyw gydag unigolyn arall pan nad ydynt eisiau gwneud hynny

·        Rhannu straeon rhywiol amdanoch neu ddelweddau rhywiol ohonoch heb eich caniatâd

·        Eich galw’n enwau rhywiol neu fychanol

·        Gwrthod rhyw neu anwyldeb

·        Gorfodi rhywun i gyflawni gweithredoedd rhywiol o flaen eraill pan nad ydynt eisiau gwneud hynny

·        Gorfodi rhywun i ddynwared pornograffi

·        Gorfodi rhywun i gael ei lun wedi’i dynnu neu ei ffilmio yn ystod rhyw / tra bod cam-drin rhywiol yn digwydd

·        Gorfodi rhywun i wylio neu edrych ar bornograffi.
