  • New WWA Chief Executive Announced

    Welsh Women’s Aid is pleased to announce that Eleri Butler MBE has been appointed as the new Chief Executive of the organisation and will be joining us from January 2015 to help us grow further as the lead organization working to end violence against women and domestic abuse in Wales. Our first priority is always to protect the safety of women and children affected by these terrible forms of abuse, and with the vast knowledge, experience and leadership of Eleri we are confident of even greater successes to come.

     

  • New Wales Bill to prevent violence against women welcomed by Welsh Women’s Aid

    Welsh Women’s Aid welcomes the Welsh Government’s ‘Gender Based Violence, Domestic Abuse and Sexual Violence (Wales) Bill’ which has been introduced to the National Assembly for Wales today.


    This Bill presents a significant opportunity for Wales to lead the way in the UK in reducing and preventing domestic abuse, sexual violence and all forms of gendered-based violence.

     

  • Minister launches Wrexham Domestic Abuse Campaign

    Local Government Minister, Lesley Griffiths AM voiced her support for a campaign tackling domestic abuse in Wrexhamon Friday the 22nd of May. Reducing incidence of Domestic Abuse and Sexual Violence and repeat victimisation is a priority for the Welsh Government and for Wrexham Community Safety Partnership.

    A critical part of the Partnership’s work is to increase public confidence in reporting incidents of Domestic Abuse and Sexual Violence and to also improve support for victims of abuse. The Partnership’s publicity campaign, will improve public awareness ensure victims of domestic abuse are aware of the support available. 

  • Curriculum for Wales – Call for Evidence

    Professor Graham Donaldson is actively seeking views and opinions for his review of the national curriculum and assessment arrangements. WWA will be submitting evidence around the need for a Whole School Approach to ending VAW through compulsory initiatives and support for pupils, as outlined in the White Paper on the ‘Ending Violence Against Women, Domestic Abuse and Sexual Violence (Wales) Bill’ recently.
